This past weekend, thousands packed downtown Atlanta for the largest education technology conference in the U.S.: the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Conference. The conference began on Sat., 6/28/14 at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) and continued through Tues., 7/2/14.
The event attracted persons from all areas of education to learn about being better prepared for what is termed the "Digital Learning Age". These included: IT Directors and Technical Coordinators; administrators and policy makers; government and industry representatives, and of course; teachers and educators.
BFA Technologies, Inc. was on-hand each day, attending workshops, talking with partners, other vendors and even meeting with clients and potential clients. Clearly, much of the focus was on laptop and mobile deployments and one-to-one programs for school systems. The proliferation of technology in education and how that technology is helping young people to learn more creatively and effectively is amazing.
The keynote presentation took place on Saturday @ 5:00 p.m. with Ashley Judd
Although Apple Inc. was not an exhibiting vendor, the event was filled with sessions on Macintosh and iPads in education. And, of course, vendors were eager to show their products and solutions working in conjunction with Apple's products. BFA partners Aerohive (wireless) and AirWatch (MDM) were present. Among many other vendors, BFA was also able to meet with JAMF Software, makers of the Casper Suite, a long-time leading endpoint management solution for Apple products in education.
Of course, selecting a hardware platform is only part of the solution. And the event was filled with many software vendors offering solutions for ciriculum and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Next year's ISTE will be held in Philadelphia from 6/28/15 through 7/1/15.
